an officer and a gentleman

It doesn't happen terribly often; there's the odd crewmate here and there, or even smaller vessels, but this is the very first time Tetchō has captured anyone as high ranking as the man before him. He's infamous, in fact; Captain Jouno Saigiku, who has been evading the authorities for years. As a newer officer, this is a dream for moving up in the world, but that's not why Tetchō is excited.
He's excited because of Jouno's reputation. Because of how many men he's killed, the fortunes he's plundered. He is infamous for a reason, and he needs to be brought to justice. And that is what lies at the heart of Tetchō's motivation, not the rewards, the fame. He couldn't care less about any of that.
And here he is, facing the man himself. He really doesn't look as intimidating as the stories say, but Tetchō knows looks hardly mean anything. This man is feared, bloodthirsty, ruthless. Tetchō has seen the aftermath of his raids.
"Captain." The room he's in is small and cold, iron bars between the two of them. Tetchō is, at the least, respectful of Jouno's title. "Have you anything to say in your defense?"
The trial will be soon. Tetchō knows it won't end well for Jouno; he's seen the hangings himself. Quite honestly, a pitiful end to a man who is clearly skilled, but otherwise detestable in all other ways.
